Energy Efficiency Requirements

The following products are subject to Energy Efficiency Certificate and EE Label must be affixed on them:

1. Air conditioners

2. Refrigerators

3. Washing machines

4. Light products

5. Dishwasher

6. Storage water heaters

Energy Efficiency Requirements are regulated by the National energy efficiency and conservation program dated 23/4/2011.

RoHS requirements

RoHS requirements are confirmed by the RoHS Certificate and regulated by the Restriction on Hazardous Substances by the UAE Cabinet Decision 10 as of 2017.

The following products are subject to RoHS CoC:

1. Large household appliances

2. Small household appliances

3. IT and Telecommunication equipment

4. Consumer equipment

5. Lighting equipment

6. Electrical and electronic tools (with the exception of large-scale stationary industrial tools)

7. Toys leisure and sport equipment

8. Medical devices (with the exception of all implanted and infected products)

9. Monitoring and control instruments including industrial monitoring and control instruments

10. Automatic dispensers

11. Other EEE not covered by any of the categories above or, and falling within the definition of Article one.

REGULATORY AGENCY

Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA)

REGULATIONS

Energy efficiency:

• The UAE Energy Efficiency Standards & Labeling Program (EESL) is supervised and managed by the ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardisation & Metrology), which is the authorised government agency responsible for the development of standards.

UAE RoHS:

• The UAE regulation to control hazardous substance in electrical and electronic devices was published in the UAW official gazette on 27 April 2017. Its intention is to control or limit presence of the following hazardous substances on electrical and electronic devices:
1. Lead (Pb)
2. Mercury (Hg)
3. Cadmium (Cd)
4. Hexavalent chromium (VI)
5. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
6. Polybrominated biphenyl ethers (PBDE)
7. Bis (2-ethyhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
8. Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP)
9. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)
10. Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)

CERTIFICATION PROCEDURE

• Submit application and testing report. The performance test report should be from an ISO 17025 certified laboratory.
• Evaluation of Annual Energy Consumption (EER).

UAE RoHS:

• The UAE RoHS regulation covers all electrical and electronic equipment with a voltage rating not exceeding 1000 volts for alternating current and 1500 volts for direct current.
